I think I may have mentioned in a previous post (aaaaages ago mind) about how the boy's dad gave him some strawberry plants, and then when the boy moved house he gave some to me, which I managed to kill spectacularly in the Big Freeze over winter. However, one tough little blighter survived, and I managed to nurse him back from the brink with a bit of compost and a nice warm corner of the greenhouse. And look what's occurred since! A little bit of TLC and he's all grown up and blooming!
Fresh strawberrys are soooo lovely, and picking them directly off the plant is certainly one of lifes little pleasures! I ate a couple after I took this photo, and they were soft and warm from the sun and they tasted like summer.
