Jumper: Benetton (thrifted)
Skirt: Vintage via Urban Outfitters Renewal
Boots: Bullboxer
Body Chain: Topshop
Tights: Topshop Bargain Bin
One of my new years resolution's this year is to wear more skirts. I do like skirts, I just find it difficult to find ones that I a) like and b) fit well. I'm not sure if I'm a funny shape or something, but most skirts just make my legs look dumpy or my thighs look fat! So it takes something special to get me into a skirt, or, a special skirt at least.
One was found in the form of this vintage pelmet from Urban Outfitters. I bought this from the Renewal section which is an area of this store that I normally avoid; as a bonafide thrift shopper I baulk at having to rifle through cherrypicked and overpriced 'vintage' which is gussied up in UO lables and merchandised so as to look 'hip.' Give me a musty corner of my local Chazzer any day-I'd much rather hunt out the bargains, rather than have VINTAGE shoved in my face. Nonetheless, when I found this skirt, it was in the sale section for £22 (which is ok, I suppose, for a leather skirt) and it has been reworked into this pelment from something else, as it has a zip running down the front which has been hemmed at the bottom and has clearly had a lot cut from it at some point, though it does retain the original vintage French store lable inside. I tried it on (Urban Outfitters returns policy is a little grey on the renewal stuff but I don't think they offer refunds, so I wanted to be sure.) I loved the fit and the length, and actually I think it looks better with bare legs than tights; I'm going to get a lot of wear out of this in the warmer months. For now, mind, I'll wear it with these two tone and heart printed tights, fished out of the Toppers bargain bucket for £1, on account of them having no packaging. Erm, well, if you're willing to knock £9 off the price for the lack of a bit of cardboard I'd only have binned anyway, I'll take 3 pairs, thanks! The body chain was a Topshop sale buy as well which I saw in the full price section again today-markdown mistake maybe?!
I got absolutely soaked earlier walking home from town, I erroneously forgot my umbrella and ended up looking like a hound that had got caught in a drainpipe. So attractive. I was actually on the hunt for some printed, tapered trousers; anyone know where I can get some? I have been hunting high and low but so far, no good!
I also just wanted to welcome some new followers who I've noticed have just arrived *waves* come on in and I'll put the kettle on!
XO Amie
That skirt is absolutely perfect on you, the length and shape are just fantastic and I love how you've teamed it with those amazing boots, body harness and cutsie top knot.
I know what you mean about OU. I love going in for inspiration but I'm like an old granny tut-tutting at the prices and muttering, don't these shoppers go to charity shops?
£22 is a great price, though. The quality looks amazing.
