Last night I was lucky enough to be invited to attend the launch of a new store opening in central Bristol: Dr Martens! Of course I was really excited to attend and I took Adrian along as my plus-one. After a really warm welcome and a bottle of Bristol beer, I caught up with some of my lovely blogger friends (Tara, Kelly and Millie) and had a good nose around the store.
Oh my...I just about wanted to buy everything! Firstly, I had no idea Dr Martens had a clothing line, but they have a tight edit of some gorgeous pieces ranging from snuggly knits and tees to lovely plaid shirts (Adrian was particularly taken with a blue one).
The accessories were absolutely beautiful too-luxe satchel bags in all shapes and sizes, and in sumptuous leather; some heavily studded, some cast in a softer floral decoration. All delicious!
Of course, no trip to a Dr Martens store would be complete without a good long look at the footwear! The boots were, of course, classic DM's, in all lengths and conceivable colours and styles, from crushed velvet to covered-in-studs. There was also a good selection of shoes, too, and I was particularly taken with the two toned leather brogue styles (everyone knows I love a good brogue!) but there were simply too many beautiful pairs to choose from. A definite destination for anyone who loves a classic, beautifully crafted pair that are made to last a lifetime.
I have my own personal DM's story to share too! I got my first pair (classic black boots) just before moving to a new Primary school, probably aged around 9 or 10, I don't remember! I do remember, however, being really happy that they came in a size 3 (I think this was the smallest size at the time, and my shoe size). I tried them on in the local shoe shop and it was love at first try! They were the comfiest boots ever and I wore them for years and years, and always on trend!
What do you think of Dr Martens? Are they your style? You can shop the range online too, click here for the website.

This is awesome! I always thought Dr. Martens only made boots, but I'm loving their oxfords and studded pairs. I might check them out now!
