Kat Maconie "Poppy" Sandals at Spartoo UK
One of my favourite bloggers, Vix, commented the other day on how I always seem to have my feet out, even during the winter months. I have to admit I always struggle with winter footwear, which for me tends to be either a black ankle boot or a flat riding style knee boot, and obviously when I can't get away with low cut shoes, I always reach for these. However, more often than not I choose to forgo them for a pump or a sneaker, occasionally living to regret my choice but more often than not I'm ok! I think this is why I like to wear skirts in the winter, because I can pair them with tights and, ergo, a pump as opposed to a boot. I'm not sure why I don't really embrace the boot...maybe I have claustrophobic feet!?
Nonetheless, nothing makes me happier than when I can shed my winter layers and reach for a ballerina to wear with bare legs, or a classy sandal to smarten up my skinnies. It may be wildly early to be thinking about summer sandals but I do have a holiday to prepare for in the early part of the year so I am kidding myself that it's ok to start planning my summer shoe-drobe.
I look for many things in a sandal, and actually these Kat Maconie ones would perfectly fit with my "evening summer shoe" criteria. I'm not sure what I love more, the shape or the simplicity; perhaps it's a combination of both that I've fallen for but the colour is actually right up there too. The delicate studding of gems and that fierce t-bar transcends the typical gladiator styling into something much more special than an everyday flat. I like them a LOT. How about you?
Are you super keen for spring and summer? And what are your flats of choice?
XO Amie
Well, I ordered my staple-summer-sandals-2013 today! A bit of sunshine (although it was still freezing out!) was all the inspration I needed! I've gone for a floral grey canvas espadrille, flat and open-heeled. Super excited for the summer!! Love, love.! x
