How I style: Yull Chartwell

When I was challenged by one of my favourite brands, Yull, to style up a pair of their Chartwell shoes, I couldn't wait to have a play around and see what I could come up with. These shoes come in a few different colourways and I had already decided I would choose the yellow pair to style as they're my favourite, but when it came to actually putting a look together I ended up using a sunny chartreuse in one of the pieces so I used the blue pair instead, which are equally as lovely.

 

This look is a classic example of my style from a couple of years or so ago; nothing really "goes together" and you probably wouldn't immediately think to mix up this colour and print combination but I really like it. Basing the look around the blue shoes, I knew I wanted a printed trouser to give a springlike feel to the look and this pair from Whistles are perfect. I like the sporty edge they have and also they have hints of that beautiful electric blue running through the print (it's difficult to see here, but they do!)

I was drawn to this Boden tee because of the colour. I already have this top in a classic white and navy breton but this zingy chartreuse colour is making me long for sunny days and warm breezes. I love the punchy combination of this with the navy blue of the trousers; it will really make the whole look pop.

In terms of accessories I kept things simple by going back to nudes and taupes as a fallback colourway. I will always have some element of neutrality in any of my looks because I love those earthy tones and I find that wearing nude with a neon or very bright colour is an easy way to wear them, much more so than with black which can be very 80's. This taupey-nude clutch bag, and a pair of classic Ray Bans in tortoiseshell, gives a really grounding effect to the mix of colour and print and I think it pulls the whole outfit together nicely.

I love this whole look! I'd probably wear it for a nice lunch whilst on holiday, it has an urban vibe and I love the sporty elements brought into my usually quite classic style; I don't really "do" trends like this but it's a nice way to try them without being too out there, and remaining true to your individuality.
