Ash "BIXI" Sneakers at Spartoo
I know, I know, I am super way behind on the whole "hidden wedge" trainer thing, but I have to be honest, this is because I have always found this style of shoes to be absolutely hideous. I don't know, maybe because I actually wore platform trainers in the 90's (see my post on the subject here) they always seem to be a "young" thing to me; I'm quite a classical dresser (read: boring) and as such I tend to stick with things that I feel safe with (such a Virgo). It's only recently I've even considered wearing trainers outside of an exercise scenario (see here) so you can see why a hidden wedge trainer might be a bridge too far.
I have to admit though, that if you're going to go for it, and I'm not going to lie, with the right look, these can look great, you got for the best you can afford. Obviously I guess the holy grail is Isabel Marant but failing that, I would probably state that Ash is a really decent contender. I tend to only associate Ash with kicky little ankle boots and cute sandals so I was pleasantly surprised to see these, along with a host of other shades, in their repertoire.
The thing that drew me to this pair in particular was the colour. Look at those sorbet shades! It's like a summer party for your feet! I never really thought about trainers being particularly girlie; I always imagined them as clumpy and masculine, or vile and tacky in patent pink. But no, there is a happy middle ground, and it comes with velcro straps and a hidden wedge!
I don't think I'll ever be inclined to try this trend but I am totally on board with the idea of it. How on earth would you style them? I'd love to know!
What do you think of them?
XO Amie
I was so skeptical about wedge trainers but ... convert!
LOVE these x
Si arriva a perdere quei basket Isabel marant che stanno iniziando a invecchiare e scivolare in scarpe firmate nuove per le donne che si adattano alle tendenze.
I just got a pair of these trainers (mine are from Esprit and they are burgundy) and I love them! I wasn't sure about the style when I first saw them, but they are one of those things that have grown on me as a result of seeing them everywhere. And also: so comfy to wear.
