Raw Edges

DIY jeans / jumper from Gap necklace from H&M vintage shoes from a charity shop

Isn't it funny how you can have a pair of jeans kicking about in your wardrobe for ages, then suddenly make a small change to them and they're your new favourite pair. These classic blue jeans from the Gap have been a wardrobe staple for a while but I had gone off them a little as they are too long (despite being a 30 leg, apparently) and because they are quite thick denim, when I rolled them up at the ankle they looked too heavy and bunchy.

So I hadn't worn them for a while, and had earmarked them to lop into shorts, when I spotted the above article in the latest copy of ASOS magazine. I love the raw edged look of the rough hewn hems in the feature, achieved by simply cutting a length off the ends. Finally, a DIY that involved nothing else but a pair of scissors; no stitching or patterns required. Out came the kitchen snips and off came about a foot of wrinkled denim, leaving in its place a slimmed down leg with threads hanging. The perfect complement to my slouchy knits.

I've worn these jeans almost non-stop since, showing how easily a pair of old duds can be transformed into new faves with a simple update. They look equally good with flat sandals as you would have seen if you're a follower of my instagram! However I'm having a heels moment right now so my favourite vintage charity shop courts are the shoe of choice!

What do you think of my new fave jeans?
