The runway at Bristol Fashion Week AW13
As I mentioned in Friday's post I was lucky enough to attend a show at Bristol Fashion week that afternoon. I always love going to BFW as the atmosphere is exciting and the best thing of all is that all of the products that come down the runway are completely accessible; no need for a six figure salary to shop this catwalk, as it represents the pick of the British high street trends for the coming season.
On arrival I managed to find and catch up with several of my favourite bloggers. Gina, Tara, B and Lorna were all in attendance, and it's always a pleasure to see these ladies as they are as lovely as they are stylish so it was great to have them to sit and gossip about the show with! Refreshments are provided, unlike the last time I went to the show I wasn't able to get any snaps of the wonderful spread because it was very busy inside the tent, but, laid on by Marks & Spencer, it was the best snack bar ever! I sampled a non-alcoholic pina colada and it was delicious!
The show got underway amidst cheeky chat from the comperes Andrew Barton and Mark Heyes. They kept up a running commentary regarding trends and tips and tricks for styling and makeup whilst also ensuring the show ran seamlessly via their links. It all adds up to a very professional outfit and a wonderfully enjoyable event!
A few of my favourite looks are showcased in these pictures. I had quite a good seat this year so I think my pictures are better than usual, it's hard to take photo's in the dark of the tent due to the difficult lighting but I was quite pleased with how these turned out. Key trends highlighted were tartan, embellishments, and animal prints, with colours for the season hinging on luxe neutrals paired back to pops of colours such as red and teal. My particular favourite pieces came courtesy of Marks & Spencer in the form of the leopard print coat (swoon) and also the luxury looks supplied by John Lewis. In the wintry white scene we were even treated to a cameo by a ballerina!
The show wrapped up with an all-tartan finale, cementing that this is, indeed, the print of the season. I liked how the styling reflected that it could be worn as a full on look or simply as an accent; I'm definitely on the hunt for a lovely tartan check scarf to complete my winter wardrobe now!
An outfit post from the day will be up very soon!
