Last month's Glossybox was a bit of a letdown if I remember rightly, so I had high hopes that the October offering would be of a better quality. I had read mixed reviews from various bloggers, I try not to read ahead where Glossybox is concerned because there is always one standout product that everyone seems to get but me; and I'm always so disappointed when I don't get that product that the whole box is a write off.
I tried to keep an open mind about the contents but when I opened the box, the first thing I spied was the Impress nails (£7.99) and I was really pleased about receiving these because I've heard a lot of good things about them. As I've mentioned before on my blog I tend to rely on Shellac nails everyday but I've been trying to have a break from them as they do seem to make my nails quite weak. So I am hoping these 'glue free' falsies will be as good as I've heard they are. I got the 'red carpet' shade which is basically a French mani with a glitter tip. I think they're lovely and can't wait to try them.
Normally I feel that a perfume sample (unless packaged in a minature bottle like a perfume sample should be) in a Glossybox is a bit of a fob off, but of all the products in the box, if this is the weakest then I'll take that. I'm not a massive fan of celebrity scents and although this one is quite nice, it's not the sort of thing I'd buy. However the sample is useful for keeping in my bag so it's not a wasted product!
I was really happy to get a Monu product in the box again; I've had a couple of different products from them before and they've always sat well on my skin. This is a primer which I'm excited to try, I am having a real 'primer' moment right now and so I'll look forward to comparing this to the No.7 one I usually use.
I also had another product from MeMeMe, a brand I've used before but been slightly underwhelmed with, in honesty. I think this 'cherub blush' is basically a dupe for Benetint; again, a product that underwhelms me despite its cult status. I wasn't even going to attempt to use this as a cheek stain, as I struggled to get it to blend, but I did try it as a lip stain and that gave a better effect. Has anyone got any tips on how to get it to blend more effectively?

Finally the last product I got was a Premae Harmony smoothie serum. I've used a Premae product before and loved it, so I have high hopes for this. Along with primers, the other mainstay of my skincare regime at the moment are serums. I think as you get older it's important to make sure that your skincare is tailored to suit your needs; my skin can be quite dry and sensitive and I find a serum really helps to supercharge my moisturiser and generally helps to prep my face better for a day or night cream.
Did you get a Glossybox this month? What was in yours?
XO Amie
