Phase Eight have always been one of my go-to brands for classic, investment pieces and what's more of an investment than the classic winter coat? I have created a little 'dream outfit' based around the key piece that everyone needs for the coming season; a decent coat!
Being that my style does tend to err on the side of classic, this Nieve camel double breasted coat is the perfect starting point to build my look. Its shape and colour make it very versatile but it has a point of difference in the lovely oversized patch pockets, which give it a really cute edge.
Regular readers of my blog will attest that I am all about texture in my looks. I love to mix up fabrics to create really interesting outfits even with basic pieces. That said, I was instantly drawn to this Madisyn metallic jumper-it's so chic and girly and the metallic yarn adds sparkle and an autumnal feel without appearing tacky.
To play off the fuzzy, fluffy jumper (which coincidentally is set to be a big AW trend!) I picked out some Lulu geo printed trousers which I absolutely love. I think the contrast of a heavy knit with a silky trouser works so well, and the slouchy shape of these nicely juxtaposes the structure of the coat.
Of course, accessories can really make an outfit, and so to pull the look together I have reached for a classic Wilhelmina trilby to give the look a chic edge. I am so into hats at the moment, I think in autumn they're such a useful accessory because they keep you warm and dry as well as keeping your hair under control, plus making you look elegant to boot!
A scarf is also a must have during the colder months, and I love the way this window-pane check number really creates a sense of uniformity through the look and picks all the different colours from each of the pieces out. Checks are such a trend for the AW season and what better way to wear them than on a statement accessory such as this scarf. I think it's lovely and also will be practical and warm!
Finally, a good boot is a seasonal essential and what better pair to reach for than an everyday ankle boot. Tucked into skinnies or slouchy trousers, or worn with tights and skirts or dresses, these suede zip ankle boots are so elegant and the heel is high enough to create elegance, but low enough to be all-day wearable. And would you look at that, they're textured! My love for texture knows no bounds it seems!
I absolutely love this look, it's definitely something that I would reach for if I wanted to channel a bit of a left bank, Parisian vibe whilst not compromising on style or practicality, or comfort of course!
What do you think of it?
XO Amie
