With the aquisition of a sewing machine last year, I thought that a good resolution to make for 2014 would be to try and use it a bit more frequently. So last week on my day off, I decided to make a little clutch purse. If you are a regular reader of my blog, you might have already spotted it in an outfit post here!
I am still learning how to make things as I'm not very good at it; I am quite impatient and never follow patterns but just make 'by eye' which isn't always the best way! However this bag turned out ok, and it was really easy to do!
The fabric was sourced from a previous 'make' that I just wasn't happy with; I'd picked it apart and re sewn it several times and in the end I just chopped it up to make this bag. I cut a long oblong of fabric, pinned them together wrong sides facing, and machined up the two sides to create a pouch. I then pinned the zip into place and stitched that in.
I think it would have worked better if the zip had run along the full length of the bag, so I might switch the zip out for a longer one at some point, but I am really happy with the way it turned out and how it looks! I have also used it every day since I made it, which I suppose is testament to it because if I didn't like it or it was impractical I wouldn't use it! It fits quite a lot in it and adds quite a quirky edge to any look!
Hope you like it-have you ever made anything like this?
XO Amie
