Wearing: Jumper c/o French Connection ASOS shoes River Island trousers Vintage blouse Primark necklace Phase Eight coat
I love the idea of wearing leather trousers but in reality they scare me a little. It's so easy a look to get wrong but I always see so many girls rocking them and looking amazing so I thought I'd try and style them in my own way, for daytime. These ones are faux leather and I bought them from River Island last year, I had a discount card with Elle magazine I think so I picked them up then. River Island isn't somewhere I'd normally shop, but when pieces are laid out all fancy in a magazine I always end up taking a second look. And actually, these have been worn a lot more than I thought they would be, though they haven't featured on the blog very much as I tend to keep them for evening wear.
When I was thinking about how to wear these, I (of course) referenced my Alexa Chung pinterest board and noticed that when she does a leather pant, she normally pairs it with a chunky knit and a flat shoe, to totally dissipate any 'night out' connotations. To wit, I was all too eager to layer up this lovely navy stepped hem jumper from French Connection over the top of a vintage lace collared blouse. I have been wearing this Primark necklace non stop too; it pretty much garners a compliment every time it's worn so it's definitely been a worthwhile spend of £3!
I love the wide scoop neck of this vhari knits jumper which comes in a plethora of colours. I chose navy because it's one of my favourite shades and I feel it works well in winter or summer, so I know I'll get a lot of wear from it. I also don't wear much colour so this fits well into my existing wardrobe!
Do you wear leather much in the daytime?
XO Amie
