When I got the opportunity to review a hair product from Alchemy Oils, I jumped at the chance. My friend Katy swears by hair oils, and her hair, like mine, is long and thick with a natural curl (mine's more of a wave) but hair oils do seem to be the go-to product for girls with this hair type. I've used Moroccan oil in the past (well, dupes; it's very expensive!) but I was definitely intrigued by the Alchemy Oils offering.
The first thing that struck me about the product was the packaging. It really does have a traditional, alchemist look to the bottle, with the thick cut glass and wooden stopper. It would look great on a bathroom shelf; which of course isn't the point at all but it definitely helps!
The bottle arrived well packed in a box to prevent breakage and the stopper was sealed with plastic wrap to prevent it leaking in transit. The oil works in much the same way as you'd imagine; you apply a small amount to the lengths and ends of damp hair, and then style as normal. For a more intense treatment, you can massage it in to your scalp, and leave overnight before washing as normal, which I haven't tried yet but am tempted to!
The oil smells amazing, it's got a light and zingy fragrance and you can really smell the grapefruit! What I like about the scent is the freshness, it's not as you'd imagine, heady or oppressive but rather very clean. Alchemy Oils use a blend of just 5 super oils in their products, so there are no nasty parabens or silicones which can be found in other similar products.
You can also use this product on dry hair to smooth flyaways, which would be perfect for a night out or special event. It makes hair feel soft and silky and can even help split ends!
The 100ml size of this oil costs £17.99 which I think is really reasonable when compared to other hair oils on the market. You can find out more information about the brand, and buy online, here.
