Skincare Saviours: Nivea Q10 eye cream Naturally Radiant moisturiser and serum Smashbox photo finish primer Liz Earle cleanse and polish Laura Mercier foundation primer
I seem to take longer over my skincare than I do with my makeup these days! I think when you get older it becomes more important to take time over your skincare and take time to find the products that work for you.
I thought I would talk about the things that I've been using recently and the first thing that I've really got into at the minute is a serum. I'm using the Naturally Radiant 2-in-1 moisturiser and serum from Superdrug. This range is great, they do an amazing dupe of another favourite of mine, the Liz Earle cleanse and polish which I will talk about shortly, but it's super affordable and great quality. My skin is fairly dry so whilst this is a moisturiser and serum in one, I use this as a serum and then apply a moisturiser over the top. It recommends you use two to three pumps of the product but I find one is plenty and a little goes a long way.
Before applying any serums or moisturisers, your skin has to be super clean and free of grime and makeup, otherwise you are just applying product over the top of dirt which means you won't get the best from the product you're using. To ensure a clean base I am really rating the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, which smells amazing and is also slightly exfoliating. I usually apply this after removing my makeup, give it a few minutes to sink in, and then polish it away using a muslin cloth. My skin feels so soft and clean after I do this and it's gentle enough to use day and evening. If this is out of your price range, the Superdrug Naturally Radiant range have an excellent dupe which is currently on offer for £2.99! See here-bargainous!
I've used an eye cream for several years because I think one of the first places to show signs of ageing is the thinner skin around the eyes. To combat this I've used a variation of different ones but the one I'm using at the minute is the Nivea Q10 anti-wrinkle eye cream. I am enjoying using this as it leaves my eyes feeling refreshed and softened. I'm not particularly brand loyal to any skincare but I picked this up as it was on offer so if you have any recommendations please leave them in the comments!
Finally as Autumn comes around and I want a less dewy finish to my foundation, I've been reaching for a primer to lend a mattifying effect and to give longevity. My current favourites are the classic Laura Mercier foundation primer, and the Smashbox photo finish primer. They both have a lovely texture and smooth down really quickly to give a flawless finish.
