Wearing: Oxford shirt c/o New Look Menswear ASOS trousers Vintage belt and backpack Birkenstock sandals Urban Outfitters scarf
In this shirt-styling challenge I've channeled a casual everyday look here, a more preppy style here, and for my last outfit I wanted to go for a real clean, Scandinavian inspired style. That real 'normcore' look is ever popular, and whilst I hate that term, I do like the simplicity of a look that is just totally everyday. I think using a shirt as opposed to a tee can really elevate a look like this, and whilst it i really easy to wear it still maintains an element of smarts about it.
South of my ankles you will notice the sandal du jour, the Birkenstock. I can't lie, I bought them in April because I saw Alexa Chung wearing them, but wasn't really sure if I liked them all that much when I got them. I hadn't actually worn them all summer, I don't know, I seem to have just lived in my ballet shoes all season and despite buying the narrow style they are still so wide! I found them really hard to walk in; they kept slipping off my feet and I had to run to catch a train in them which was almost impossible. I know everyone raves about how comfortable they are but are you meant to have to break them in? They gave me a blister and were such an effort to wear when I think they are meant to be the complete opposite. So, one wear for the whole season; it's now raining so they will probably be consigned to the wardrobe until next year. If I ever do the 'Wardrobe Tag' which seems to be all over YouTube, this would be my biggest waste of money! They weren't that expensive really which was why I bought them; I got them from Amazon and they were around £30 which is still a lot of money but at least I didn't get them from Office and spend over the odds!
These pictures were taken on a really beautiful day which felt like the middle of summer instead of the end, so I didn't need to wear this scarf all that much. I do really like it; I bought it from Urban Outfitters back at the beginning of the year to take to Primavera and I wore it quite a lot there, it's a great size so works well as a wrap in addition to being a scarf.
I've really enjoyed styling this shirt in a few different ways; I know they aren't all that different but I've interpreted the looks in accordance with my own style, so didn't want to do anything that wasn't really me! Don't forget to check out the great range of oxford shirts at New Look Menswear.
