Ecru denim

Wearing top c/o ASOS jeans c/o White Stuff  vintage Bruno Magli shoes

As I'm sure I've mentioned before on the blog, I never used to wear denim. Ever. I don't really even know why; I suppose I found jeans quite hard to wear as I came of age in a time prior to the skinny jean revolution; I remember seeing Kate Moss wearing a grey pair in a magazine and thinking 'that'll never catch on' which is hilarious looking back. I did occasionally wear baggy 'skater' style jeans and real bellbottomed flares for a time but it is only really in the last half decade or so that I've started to appreciate the necessity of a few good pairs of jeans.

I've got quite a decent denim selection in my wardrobe now; I had to resign to some dedicated denim shopping earlier in the year as my two treasured pairs of Gap black skinny jeans both started to fall apart and I found replacements with varying success; currently my Topshop Binx and Baxter black skinnies, my ASOS Lisbon skinnies and my Whistles boyfriend jeans make up my most worn slim-leg selection, and then I also have two pairs of the ASOS Thea girlfriend jeans and these, White Stuff Southern Ocean crops, for days when I don't want to wear a super skinny jean but I'm not looking for flares.

I don't know I'd be able to wear flares again; I've definitely thought about trying the trend but I don't think they really suit me. It might be my height, at around 5'3" I'm not the tallest and I definitely don't have the longest legs that I think are more suited to a slinky flared shape. I am, however, definitely loving the paler denim trend; I used to think I'd only like to wear black denim but actually there's something about this new 'ecru' shade that is just so wearable. Infinitely more so than white, I think, but definitely more summery than black and looks less 80's when paired with colour than black does!

Although these White Stuff crops are, as the name suggest, a cropped jean, I love to wear them rolled down to make them more an ankle length style. Worn with an easy black tee from ASOS and my fave vintage shoes, they are such a staple of my wardrobe at the minute and I've been wearing them loads! They are also really comfortable and come in a huge range of other colours (see here) and I would definitely repurchase them in another shade! The fit on the leg is slim but not super tight or skinny, making them ideal for everyday.
