I've mentioned before that in the spring and summer time I lean towards a lighter makeup, and whilst I'll never fully abandon my flicked eyeliner/slick of lippy 'signature' look, I do try and adapt it to fit in with the season. Autumn and winter is all about the red or berry lips, the copper and tawny eye colours, but it's nice to lighten the look for the more summery months.

To do that, whilst remain true to my everyday look, I choose a paler colour palette which is in keeping with the muted and neutral tones I like to wear. Maybe a few years ago I would have worn a bubblegum pink or even a coral lip, but these days I prefer a pale nude toned pink or a washed out peach for the summer months. My current go-to is this Kate Moss for Rimmel option which is pale enough to impress some impact but not too light that it looks dull.

For the cheeks, I steer clear of my wintery, dusky rose toned blushes and reach for an old favourite, this Rimmel cheek cream. The colour is a faded cherry pink that blends out beautifully for a natural flush of colour. Likewise on the eyes, rather than a taupe or brown shaded eye I simply wash a swipe of this No. 7 eye cream in soft pink over the lid. It's slightly iridescent but not frosted (no 80's looks here!) and it provides a great base for my eyeliner.

I'll occasionally wear a summery bright on my nails in the warmer months but I habitually paint my nails in a mushroom or nude shade, only venturing into colour if it is pastel, and usually on then if it's on the pale spectrum! I love this Alexa Chung for Nails Inc cashmere pink which is super flattering and makes your hands look really tanned!

I'm loving summery perfume, too, and whilst I'm all about the Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess, I am also enjoying rediscovering this old favourite; Smoky Rose by The Body Shop. The mixture of the summery floral with the smokiness makes this a perfect scent for evening, bringing a little decadence to a summer fragrance.
