'Whisky' sandals by Office buy here
I've made a concerted effort of late to buy fewer pairs of shoes, as it seems that I wear the same ones on repeat with little regard for the multiple pairs I have stacked up in storage under my clothes rail. Of course I would say this, as a prefix to a post about, obviously, a new pair of shoes. But what I can claim in defense is that I have no other styles like these ones, which I picked up recently in Office.
As disclosure on this post, I did part-pay for these with a voucher that Office had kindly given to me for some work I did for them (the review of Primavera Sound festival that I wrote here) however, this is not a sponsored post and I am definitely going to rave about these shoes because I love them, and for no other reason! They remind me of a pair I had from Barratts (does that still exist?!) circa about 1998 which were white with a few more straps, but that sort of platform front detail is all the rage again and what I liked about this pair was that they reminded me of something that the brand Marni would make; that sort of slightly fugly, clompy and very un-elegant looking shoe that would work really well with something quite feminine; a dress or midi skirt perhaps, or even a nice pair of trousers and a blouse.
With the 70's trend an even more impactful trend for AW15, platforms are the sole unit to be seen in and whilst I've clocked a few others (such as these) what I liked about the ones I chose was that they weren't too high. Sky high heels are so impractical when you walk everywhere and while these ones are undoubtedly tall, they are also fairly 'flat' and ergo, quite easy to walk in.
I was also thinking that if you really wanted to channel a catwalk look, you could even pair these sandals with socks; usually such a fashion faux-pas that it's actually gone full circle and become quite cool. I don't think I would be brave enough to try the look but if I was, these are the sort of shoes I'd want to attempt it with!
August so far has been a complete washout and it seems that summer is certainly on the wane, which is bad for sandal wearing although I'm confident I'll get a few wears from these before the boots come back out again. They are currently reduced on the Office website so you can shop them yourself here if you love them too!
XO Amie
