#LittleBlackBox c/o TNT Direct // Primark hat // Accessorize earrings // Specsavers glasses // Whistles boots // Longchamp handbag
With Christmas fast approaching, there's a trend that precedes it that just won't go away; the Black Friday sales. I think this must be a fairly recent shopping event for the UK in any case, but those across the pond in the USA have been hitting the shops after their Thanksgiving celebrations for years, and certainly in the last few, the UK has followed suit. As a precursor to Christmas it benefits shoppers probably more than retailers, who discount items heavily to encourage a large spend.
I can't say that I've ever really taken part in a Black Friday sale, but safe to say, elbows will need to be sharpened and senses heightened to bag a bargain or two, unless, of course, you'll be joining in the fun online, and shopping from the comfort of the sofa, which sounds much more appealing than fighting the crowds in town! Courier company TNT Direct are also taking part by turning their usual orange branding down for the day and embracing a more fashion-forward, darker look! To celebrate, they sent me over a box full of fashionable goodies, and I will be talking about some of my favourite wardrobe pieces in fashion's classic hue.
The box I was sent was jam packed with fab things but I really liked the Moleskine notebook and ball point pen. Ideal for noting down shopping lists or present ideas, or even thoughts on blog posts! As my capsule wardrobe project means that I'm not buying any clothes until the end of December, this will be useful for writing down any things I see that I want to pick up.
A bar of chocolate was included, which would be perfect for a mid-shop sugar fix! This is dark chocolate (naturally) which I believe is also better for you than the regular kind! There were also a couple of makeup items from Barry M: a black nail polish and lipstick! I can definitely get on board with the nails and can't wait to try it out, but the lipstick may be a step too far for me! I would like to try it maybe mixed with a red or berry colour to add a bit of depth to it, so perhaps I'll give it a go that way.
I think a lot of people wear black for ease; it goes with everything and is almost universally flattering. I've chosen a few pieces from my wardrobe that I particularly like (although they ended up all being accessories!)
Felt fedora from Primark: This is such a good way to finish off an outfit. I love it, despite it being a bit too big for my pinhead!
Double earrings from Accessorize: These earrings are really unusual and create a whole new look away from the normal stud style. They work well as a statement piece and the marble stud is really cool too.
Glasses from Specsavers: If you have to wear glasses, they might as well be cool ones. These are from Specsavers and the style is called 'Alexa.' Of course.
Ankle boots from Whistles: My workwear winter staple, these patent boots add a shine to skinny trousers and an edge to midi dresses. They aren't too high either so are super comfortable!
Bag from Longchamp: This rather tattered Le Pliage from Longchamp is such a useful tote for everyday. It even folds up when not in use to fit in a pocket or another bag. I have the luggage sized version of this too and they are such handy bags to have.
Will you be shopping on Black Friday? Do you have any pieces in mind to buy?
XO Amie
