Easter is very early this year-as it lands at the end of March I thought it would be fun to put together a post about Easter table dressing. The folk at Thorntons got in touch and asked if they could send me an easter egg which I could then create a bespoke DIY table centrepiece from!
Thorntons kindly sent me this Continental Easter Egg which is inspired by the taste of the continent. The egg comes complete with a tray of delicious chocolates and is made of milk chocolate with a white and dark chocolate finish. It's suitable for vegetarians (important to me as I am vegetarian!) and would make a really beautiful gift.
I was really stuck for ideas on what to do. Should I smash up the egg and create something from the shards? Should I use the egg whole? It was really difficult, especially because the whole time I just basically wanted to eat the decoration!
I decided to make something quite simple and went down the 'dessert' route. I thought it would be really cool if you were to have a dinner party and then, rather than serving a traditional pudding, guests could help themselves to the table centrepiece instead!
To make the centrepiece, I used a footed dessert dish and filled it with brightly coloured chocolate eggs. I added the large egg to sit on top of these, and decorated the table with a selection of Thorntons chocolates, which come with the Continental Easter Egg. Simple, but quite pretty and effective!
