boots c/o New Look
My favourite ASOS jeans were the perfect foil to these woven boots which were kindly sent to me by New Look as part of their latest boot campaign, 'My Boots & Me.' I am a huge fan of a decent boot and specifically, I really like ankle boots; I'm not very tall so I tend to find that knee boots make me look quite stumpy but ankle boots are always super flattering.
My favourite pair at the moment are my Finery ones and I've got (another) outfit post coming up soon featuring those, but for now I wanted to talk about how this New Look style differ and ways I like to wear them. A true ankle length boot, these ones are slightly lower on the leg than my Finery pair and they have an almond shaped toe. I was really drawn to the colour of these; I tend to choose dark footwear but for spring, a paler shade is a must to wear with lighter denim.
As I have mentioned previously I prefer to wear real leather boots and this pair are super soft and have a lot of interesting details, such as the woven tops and side tassles. I wore them with these ASOS girlfriend jeans which have definitely been a cornerstone of my capsule wardrobe; I turned them up at the ankles to show off the tops of the boots which helps prevent legs looking too short. I often think a flash of ankle can be a really effective way of breaking up the leg and preventing any stumpification!
Denim and leopard print is such a nice combination and I also love the way that the colours complement each other in this look. the vintage jumper and navy roll neck top underneath it ground the look and keep it fresh and springlike, despite the weather not really wanting to cooperate!
