Bristol Fashion Week SS16
Bristol Fashion Week is always an event I look forward to, mainly because it was the first real event I attended as a blogger after moving to Bristol. I went to my first Fashion Week back in 2012 and you can see what I wore way back then in this post! I had an amazing time at that event and I've gone as frequently as possible ever since!
Held at The Mall at Cribbs Casueway, the theme for this SS16 show was 'The Great British Summer' and each scene provided a round up of all the trends and events you could attend in Britain over the summer. We went to Wimbledon, Ascot, the polo, to a picnic in the countryside, (with Great British Bake Off music!) and even off to Fistral beach through the course of the show. Hosted by Mark Heyes and Denise Van Outen, the show was a fun and fashionable frolick through the trends to watch this season. Bristol was imbedded in the styling of the show, with scenes reflecting street style and colourblocking set to backgrounds all Bristolians will recognise-those of the graffiti and street art of Stokes Croft and the city centre and the Bristol Balloon Fiesta.
Other key trends coming up this season include stripes, florals, bohemian glamour and ruffles and lace. There were several lovely pieces that really stood out, I particulalry liked the khaki leather midi skirt from Marks & Spencer and all the beautiful teracotta shades within that scene, which will be popular through to Autumn. It's really quite refreshing to see colours other than pastels in a Spring/Summer presentation! After the show is over, you get a goodie bag to take home too, full of fabulous treats.
Bristol Fashion Week continues through until Sunday, you can book tickets on the Mall's website here.
