Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess (x2) and Balenciaga Florabotanica
My perfume collection is in a constant state of flux. I go from having a handful of fragrances I wear in rotation, to suddenly having loads of different ones for every possible occasion. Current count: 12, which I suppose isn't so bad when some women have a collection that reaches into the hundreds (but how would you wear all those before they go off!?)
What I find interesting about frangrance is the way that it can be so transporting. There's a fragrance I wore constantly from 2007-2009, YSL Elle. I haven't got a bottle of it any longer - it's heinously expensive - but it's still in production and I'll often have a spritz of it when I'm in Boots; it's really nostalgic to me and I would still wear it. I was wearing it when Adrian and I first met, so I think it will always have a place in my heart!
Another oldie but goodie is Estee Lauder's Bronze Goddess. This is pure summer in a bottle, it's a really happy fragrance and just typifies the sunshine, holidays and endless days. Its become a bit of a tradition that my mum buys me a bottle of it for my birthday, and I definitely get through it! It's a good summer time scent and I would wear it from June - October quite happily.
I usually buy my perfumes from Boots because I collect up the points and then use them to buy something nice. I also usually wait for the sales because you can get some absolute steals. This Balenciaga Florabotanica was about £15 I think which is a bargain as the retail is around £50. I'm not sure why they have these random discounts in Boots, usually on the end of an aisle, I can only think that perhaps certain sizes or packaging is discontinued so they sell them off cheaply. This scent is a fresh, green, watery fragrance; not really my usual style but I actually liked the way is smelled on the skin very much. That's the benefit about picking up perfumes in the sales - it gives you the chance to try something new.
With my latest batch of Boots points I managed to score a couple more reduced scents, and even though one was bought blind (there was no tester) I absolutely love it. I highly recommend the website fragrantica.com if you are ever unsure about a perfume - you simply search the name of the fragrance and it tells you exactly what the notes are and how it smells, ideal if you haven't got the opportunity to test it out.
XO Amie
