Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you've enjoyed a couple of days of eating, drinking and spending time with loved ones. I've had a lovely few days and I'm looking forward to enjoying a relaxing break from work until the New Year; something after several years of working in retail I definitely don't take for granted and am extremely grateful for.
The back half of this year has been a bit trying in terms of blogging; it sounds a little trite to say I haven't really had time for it because I know I could make time, but moving house and an ever increasing workload in my day job has meant that the blog has taken a bit of a back seat. A few times this year I have definitely considered giving it up; I have been writing for almost a decade and I do sometimes wonder if it's run it's course a bit but then I do always come back to finding some sort of enjoyment from it, so I suppose that's a good enough reason to continue. I think I will be shifting the focus of my posts a little in 2018; I have definitely not shopped as much in 2017 and I think so much of the onus on being a 'fashion blogger' has to do with having the latest looks and newest fashions and that just isn't me these days. I don't have an endless budget to spend on clothes, as much as I wish I did, and I don't consider myself an authority on fashion, despite the love for it being as much as ever!
I will continue with the outfit posts and I will also continue with the shopping posts, when I do shop, but I want to talk more about beauty and skincare in 2018. As I approach my 35th year, skincare is more important than ever and I feel I have tried lots of different brands and products over the years, so I can talk about what I like and what I don't with enthusiasm. I guess it's similar to fashion in many ways - I find what I like and tend to stick with it, rather than, say, 10-15 years ago when I would try whatever the latest trends and products were, regardless of whether they suited me or not!
I will be taking the rest of the week off the internet as much as possible for a bit of a digital detox but I will be back again in 2018 to begin the 9th year of blogging on Credit Crunch Chic!
Happy New Year!
XO Amie
