There's something about an espadrille that's just pure summer in a shoe. With the heatwave we've been enjoying in the UK, there's never been a better time to crack out the espys!
Whilst these ones are rather a statement pair, there's so many styles to choose from. Whether a classic flat, ballerina style; a slip on, mule style, or the classic wedge, there's a shape to suit every outfit and occasion. I love the look of a flat sandal style, worn with high waisted jeans or linen trousers. Wedge shapes look awesome worn with dresses and skirts, or to lift the look of a pair of ripped denims.
Brands are also getting on board the espadrille bandwagon. The leader of the pack is undoubtedly Castaner, whos ankle tie wedges are renowned, but other brands are also embracing the rope sole - Superga have recently updated their classic sneaker to feature such a detail.
There really are no rules when it comes to this perennial summer staple, except perhaps to avoid wearing them in the rain!
